2016 Winner: Newlife for Disabled Children
The charity, which works with thousands of disabled and terminally ill children, were awarded with the Charity of the Year award at the 2016 Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards and received a donation of £3000 prize money.
The award sponsor Secure Power, who were part of the judging panel for this category, said: “This was a very hard award to make a decision on, as all charities at this time need money to survive especially with government cuts now taking place. A lot of the charities that were in the running we’ve seen first-hand what amazing work they are doing within the local community and this is what made it a very difficult and heart wrenching task to pick a particular charity when they all deserve the money for the work they do.
“However, there was one charity which I felt extra funding could really make a big impact and that charity was the ‘Newlife foundation for disabled children’. This charity takes care of the most vulnerable in society and it is with great pleasure that I present this award to this amazing charity which like the others is really making a difference to people’s lives.”
CAROLINE ARTSCHAN (FUNDRAISING MANAGER)
“Newlife is delighted to accept this award from Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber. We guarantee that 100% of the amount will be spent on changing the lives of local children with disabilities or terminal illness through provision of urgently needed essential equipment. We look forward to updating the Chamber in due course on the impact of their extremely generous support.”
